Competition & Social Bowls

Whether you play competition lawn bowls or just for fun, you’ll be bowled over by the quality of the rinks at the Taree Railway Institute Bowling Club. Our legendary greenskeeper Steve, has been keeping the greens pristine for more than 30 years in Taree.

Ladies bowls starts on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8.30am and on the Greens by 9.30, The new Wednesday mens Jackpot Bowls starts on the 3rd of May 23 starting at 1pm. Our weekly social bowls are available to all members.

Experienced bowlers are more than welcome to join our tournaments, which are open to club members, visitors and locals while our competition bowls and club championships are exclusive to bowling members.

Enjoy Barefoot Bowls

Feel the grass between your toes and enjoy a drink from the bar while playing barefoot bowls.

Played using the same basic rules as lawn bowls – the aim is to get your bowl closer to the kitty (the small white ball) than your opponent. 

It’s more challenging than you think if you’ve never played before, as the bowls are weighted on one side which causes them to curve. It takes a careful eye and a steady hand to send the bowl where you want it to go!
